I’m Back!

It has been almost three and a half years since I’ve last posted on my blog and I am thrilled to be back at it! After years of contemplating starting things up again around here, I am finally putting pen to paper. (More like finger to keyboard but it just doesn’t sound quite as cool.) Even as I write this, I am wondering what finally got me to sit in the chair and make it happen. Part of it stems from the craziness that is the year 2020. Everyone these days seem to be struggling to figure out how exactly we are supposed to stay connected in a world where connection is what is killing over a million people worldwide. We humans are social creatures and it is cruel and unusual punishment to have to restructure our entire social environment, but that is exactly what I am attempting to do.

When covid first hit home, I rejoined the Facebook world to try to stay connected and grounded in a world that felt upside down. That was comforting for a while but I eventually decided to part ways with social media in general (a post for another day) a couple of months ago. Since then, I try to connect with those that I love via texting or the occasional outdoor hang out but I know that that simply isn’t enough. This will especially become apparent when winter hits and I am left with texting as my main social interaction with friends and family. I know this is temporary and life won’t always be as fucked as 2020 (honestly, I’ve had a pretty great year personally but you know what I mean), but I yearn for more of a connection to the outside world and I am determined to make that happen for myself despite the world being in shambles.

So, here I am, writing this post in hopes to connect with you, the world beyond my home sweet home. I hope that by opening up more than I have in my previous posts, I will make it easier to connect over things that truly matter. While ya’ll know that I care deeply about decluttering closets and keeping things organized, I also look forward to writing more posts about decluttering our minds and enriching our lives. We as a people have really woken up this year to what matters most and I want to dive deep into all of that here with you. Thanks for reading!
